2024 Italian Festival Tickfaw Lets Geaux Louisiana

The Italian Festival in Tickfaw, Louisiana is a vibrant celebration of the town’s rich Italian heritage. Held annually on the last full weekend of April, this three-day event is a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in authentic Italian culture.

Tickfaw, a small village in Tangipahoa Parish, has a significant population of Italian-American descendants, and the festival is a testament to their enduring traditions. The event kicks off with the Spaghetti Cook-off, where local families and teams compete to see who can claim the coveted prize for the best “red gravy.” Visitors can sample the various sauces throughout the competition, setting the stage for the delectable Italian cuisine to come.

As the festival gets into full swing, the air is filled with the tantalizing aromas of grilled Italian sausage, stuffed artichokes, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, muffalettas, pizza, cannolis, and freshly baked Italian cookies. The diverse menu caters to every palate, ensuring that everyone can indulge in their favorite Italian delicacies.

Complementing the mouthwatering food is a stellar lineup of live music, featuring some of the best local and regional bands. The festival’s three stages come alive with the sounds of traditional Italian tunes and contemporary favorites, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

Beyond the culinary and musical offerings, the Italian Festival in Tickfaw also celebrates the community’s rich cultural heritage. The annual Blessed Mother Parade, held on the first weekend of July, is a testament to the town’s deep-rooted Catholic traditions. The parade is a vibrant display of faith, with floats, music, and the participation of the local community.

This year’s festival takes place April 26th, 27th and 28th on Highway 51 next to the City Hall in Tickfaw.
